Moncks Corner, SC – A Moncks Corner woman was arrested this week after Berkeley County deputies investigated a suspicious vehicle at a Cypress Gardens boat landing, authorities announced Thursday.
According to Berkeley County Sheriff Duane Lewis, deputies made contact with Crystal Lynn Montgomery, 33, of Charles Fort Way, during a patrol on September 13. Deputies reported the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search.
During the search, deputies allegedly found 16.70 grams of fentanyl pills, 2.82 grams of cocaine, 144.38 grams of psilocybin mushrooms (including packaged chocolate products), marijuana, a 9mm Ruger handgun, digital scales, and other drug-related items.
“This is another example of how proactive patrol and community involvement play a vital role in keeping dangerous drugs off the streets of Berkeley County,” Sheriff Lewis said in a statement.
Montgomery was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl, manufacturing a scheduled substance, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The sheriff’s office credited community tips with helping lead to what it described as a “significant narcotic seizure.”
