Moncks Corner, SC – Two Berkeley County parents are facing charges after their two-year-old reportedly overdosed inside a Moncks Corner home on Sunday, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Duane Lewis announced that Bryan Edward Connolly, 41, and Ashley Marie Romashko, 35, were arrested and charged with Unlawful Neglect of a Child following the incident.

According to deputies, first responders were called to a residence on McQueenshill Lane on October 26 for a child in medical distress. Authorities say EMS had already been to the home once before but were allegedly refused permission to transport the toddler to the hospital.

When crews returned for a second response, they found the two-year-old unresponsive and began emergency treatment. Deputies arrived shortly after and assisted EMS as the child was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Officials say all children in the home were placed in Emergency Protective Custody as part of the ongoing investigation.

Connolly and Romashko were booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center pending a bond hearing. The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
