Investigators said the driver, identified as Kofi Amartei Opoku Nkromah, 39, allegedly provided false information about his identity. When deputies attempted to detain him, Nkromah allegedly assaulted one of the deputies and then ran from the scene. The injured deputy received treatment for injuries sustained during the altercation.
Authorities said Nkromah has outstanding warrants from the South Carolina Highway Patrol for Resisting Arrest and is known to be a violent offender.
