Berkeley County, SC – A routine traffic stop in the Ladson area on Wednesday turned into a narcotics investigation after deputies recovered two plastic bags containing more than 19 grams of methamphetamine, according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the department, deputies were patrolling College Park Road in Berkeley County on Wednesday, Dec. 5, when they observed a vehicle commit a driving infraction. Deputies initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Angie Nicole Therrell, 45, of Moncks Corner. Investigators say Therrell informed deputies she did not have a valid driver’s license. A records check showed her license was suspended for failure to provide insurance.
During the stop, Therrell allegedly disclosed she was currently on probation for a previous methamphetamine-related offense. Deputies say she provided consent for a search of her vehicle and person, where investigators located a methamphetamine pipe concealed on her.
Therrell was taken to the Hill-Finklea Detention Center. According to detention staff, a further search recovered two clear plastic bags containing suspected methamphetamine with a combined estimated weight of 19.51 grams. Deputies charged her with Driving Under Suspension and Trafficking Methamphetamine between 10 and 28 grams.
The sheriff’s office said it remains committed to removing illegal narcotics from Berkeley County roadways and communities.
