Corvallis, OR – Authorities in Oregon are asking for the public’s help identifying an adult male found deceased in the Willamette River late Saturday afternoon. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) says the man was recovered near Hyak Park after a river-goer reported seeing a body floating near river mile 122.

According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 4:15 p.m. on November 29, 2025, and located the individual by boat before bringing the body to shore. Investigators say the man had likely been in the water more than a week, based on an initial assessment by the Benton County Deputy Medical Examiner. The cause of death remains undetermined.

Officials released several identifying details in hopes the public can assist:

• Two tattoos — one on the upper left arm and one on the right ribcage
• A scar near the navel
• Race is currently undetermined

Despite the recovered evidence, investigators have not yet been able to identify the individual. BCSO says the man’s name will be released once his identity is confirmed and next of kin have been notified.

The Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information that may help identify the man to contact them at BentonCoSheriff@bentoncountyor.gov or call 541-753-8477 (TIPS). Information from surrounding counties or missing persons reports in other jurisdictions may also be relevant, officials said.

Agencies across the region—including Corvallis Police, Albany Police, Oregon State Police, and several Lane and Linn County departments—have been notified as part of the identification effort.

Residents are encouraged to report any matching missing person details to assist investigators as they work to determine who the man is and how he ended up in the river.
