Bennington, VT – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 7 p.m. Monday for southern Vermont and parts of the Adirondacks as steady snow continues across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, Bennington and Western Windham counties will see total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with the highest totals mainly at elevations above 2,000 feet. Areas along the spine of the southern Green Mountains may receive locally higher amounts of 7 to 9 inches, particularly near Woodford, Stratton and surrounding high terrain.
In neighboring Hamilton County, New York—including communities such as Long Lake, Wells, Hoffmeister and Sabattis—4 to 7 inches of snow are expected, with localized totals up to 9 inches in the county’s far northwestern corner where upslope snow will be heaviest through this morning.
Forecasters warn that slippery roads and reduced visibility will impact the Monday morning commute and may continue to cause travel difficulties into the afternoon and evening. Gusty winds will also contribute to isolated visibility issues, especially along mountain passes and exposed terrain.
Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra time and use caution, particularly on rural roads, hills, bridges and shaded stretches that may hold snow and ice longer. Conditions may vary widely by elevation, with higher terrain experiencing heavier snowfall and more persistent impacts.
The National Weather Service advises residents to remain alert for changing conditions and to check updated forecasts and road reports before traveling.
Snow is expected to taper later today, with gradual improvement into the evening hours.
