Bay City, MI – Residents will have a chance this weekend to safely dispose of expired or unused prescription medications during the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event takes place Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the Bay County Law Enforcement Center at 503 Third Street in Bay City.

According to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and volunteers will be on-site to collect unwanted medications for proper disposal. The effort aims to keep prescription drugs out of the hands of children, teens, and others who might misuse them.

The nationwide event, coordinated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), provides a safe and anonymous way for residents to turn in medications without questions asked. The DEA reports that millions of pounds of unused drugs have been collected since the program began in 2010.

Local officials are encouraging residents to take a few minutes to clean out medicine cabinets and participate in Saturday’s drop-off. Items such as prescription pills, capsules, and tablets are accepted, while liquids, needles, and sharps are not.
