San Francisco, CA – Scattered showers are expected to linger across the Bay Area today, with heavier rainfall possible as a second cold front pushes through on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Forecasters said light to moderate rainfall is likely to affect much of the region. Rain totals could range from half an inch to a full inch in the North Bay mountains. The North Bay valleys and the San Mateo Peninsula may receive a quarter to a half an inch, while interior parts of the East Bay, South Bay, and Central Coast could see less than a tenth of an inch.
The NWS noted that prefrontal showers may develop in the North Bay tonight, with the cold front bringing steadier rain by Wednesday morning and continuing throughout the day. Coastal and higher elevation communities are expected to see the greatest rainfall.
Drivers should be prepared for slick road conditions during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. The weather service also advises residents in areas prone to minor flooding to monitor local forecasts and updates.
This round of rain marks the first significant system of the season for many Bay Area communities, offering temporary relief to dry conditions but also bringing the potential for travel delays.
