According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 6:20 a.m. to the intersection of Verona Road and H Drive North in Marshall Township following reports of a serious crash. Officials say a vehicle driven by a 38-year-old Battle Creek man was traveling northwest on Verona Road when it collided with a vehicle driven by a 56-year-old Battle Creek man heading westbound on H Drive North.

The 38-year-old driver was transported to a local hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The 56-year-old driver allegedly sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, despite emergency crews’ efforts. The identities of those involved are being withheld pending family notification.
