Batavia, Ill. — The City of Batavia has scheduled another weed killer spraying for Tuesday, July 8. Select downtown sidewalks will be targeted from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The areas included in this sidewalk spray are Wilson Street from Lincoln Street to Prairie Street. Route 31 from Houston Street to Main Street will also be covered, as well as Houston Street from Batavia Avenue to Island Avenue. The east side of Water Street from First Street to Houston Street will be sprayed, but the west side will be sprayed from First Street to Main Street. Finally, North River Street from Wilson Street to State Street will be sprayed. Additional smaller areas of sidewalk can be found highlighted on the map provided by the City of Batavia.
The City of Batavia previously sprayed weed killer in these areas on June 11. New Illinois state regulations for pesticide applications on public rights-of-way went into effect on January 1, 2025. These updated regulations include advanced notices of pesticide applications for the safety of all residents.
