Barron County, WI – ATV riders in Barron County are being reminded that all county ATV trails will officially close tonight, October 31, 2025, at 6 p.m., according to the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.

The seasonal closure marks the end of the summer ATV season as the county transitions to its winter trail operations.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the following trails remain open year-round unless otherwise posted:

  • Posted road routes
  • Cattail Trail from Almena to Turtle Lake
  • Trail 39 from Turtle Lake to Cumberland
  • Barron County Intensive Use Area
  • Wild Rivers Trail
  • Cedar Lake Township County Forest Trail – new to the winter ATV system (previously summer only). This trail will close during the 9-day gun deer season for safety.

Officials thanked landowners, ATV clubs, and local municipalities for maintaining the county’s extensive trail network throughout the year.

Riders are encouraged to check local signage and online updates before operating ATVs, especially as trail conditions shift during the fall-to-winter transition.
