Bangor, ME – Residents in southern Penobscot County should prepare for an early taste of winter as the National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a frost advisory for early Thursday morning.

The advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Thursday, with temperatures forecast to fall to around 30 degrees. Areas affected include Bangor, Brewer, Orono, and Old Town.

According to the NWS, frost formation is likely, which could harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left unprotected. Homeowners, gardeners, and farmers are urged to cover plants or move them indoors ahead of the overnight chill.

This marks one of the first frost advisories of the season for the Bangor region, signaling the onset of colder October mornings. After the frosty start, daytime highs are expected to recover to more seasonable temperatures.
