Baltimore, MD – Rain is slowly pulling away from central Maryland and northern Virginia Tuesday afternoon, but wet roads persist along and east of the Interstate 95 corridor as another round of showers lines up for later today.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, radar around midday showed precipitation shifting east, with lingering rain near Baltimore, Washington and communities toward the Chesapeake Bay. Cloud cover remains locked in across the region, and temperatures are struggling to climb, holding in the upper 30s to low 40s for most areas.

Across Maryland, damp pavement continues along I-95, I-70 and I-83, especially near Baltimore, Bel Air and Elkton. In Washington, D.C., and into Prince George’s and Charles counties, scattered light showers are still rotating through, with steadier rain pushing toward La Plata and Lexington Park. Northern Virginia, including Fredericksburg and areas along I-66 and I-81, is seeing improving conditions for now, though clouds dominate.

Drivers should allow extra stopping distance on slick roads and remain alert for reduced visibility during heavier bursts later this afternoon. Commuters heading home should monitor updates in case steadier rain redevelops before evening.

Showers are expected to redevelop later today, and additional updates or advisories could be issued if rainfall becomes more widespread.
