Baltimore, Md. – Maryland is in for another warm stretch today as highs climb into the upper 80s across much of the state, with cooler readings in the 70s for the mountains. Skies will stay mostly sunny through the afternoon before clouds build west of the Blue Ridge by nightfall.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop over far western Maryland, particularly in the Allegheny Mountains, just after dark. Areas around Cumberland and Garrett County could see brief downpours and lightning, though most of central and eastern Maryland will remain dry.
Travelers on I-68 through Allegany and Garrett counties should use caution as storms may reduce visibility and create slick road conditions. Power outages and minor tree damage are also possible in the higher elevations where storms are most likely. The rest of the state, including Baltimore, Washington, and Annapolis, will stay warm and muggy into the evening hours.
Residents in western Maryland are advised to secure outdoor items and monitor local alerts tonight. More unsettled weather may develop later in the week as temperatures remain above normal.
