Baltimore, Maryland – Scorching heat and tropical-level humidity continue to grip Maryland Tuesday, with temperatures soaring into the upper 90s and heat indices topping 100°F across the metro area. Pop-up thunderstorms are possible this afternoon in the Allegheny region, but the most significant weather arrives later in the week.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week, with scattered storms developing by late afternoon. By Thursday, a cold front will move in, bringing a 70% chance of showers and a heightened risk of flash flooding—particularly in the mountains and low-lying urban zones.

Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday will range from 92–98°F in the lowlands, with mountain areas staying slightly cooler in the mid-70s to 80s. Thursday’s storms could be severe, with localized flooding, gusty winds, and downed limbs possible on roadways like I-70 and US-29. Residents should monitor local alerts and avoid driving through flooded intersections.

By Friday, temperatures will drop into the 70s with breezy, more comfortable conditions expected into the weekend. Another round of scattered showers is possible early Friday, but mostly sunny skies return Saturday and Sunday.

⚠️ Flash Flood Watch remains possible through Thursday night. Stay weather-aware.
