Baltimore, Md. – Dry skies and crisp air will dominate much of Maryland through Thursday, but a cold front set to push in late Thursday night could bring a sharp change to end the week. Afternoon highs will remain below average, topping out in the upper 70s around Baltimore and Washington, D.C., with cool nights dipping into the 40s and low 50s.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, the front will reach the region Thursday night into Friday, bringing the chance of scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Forecasters say the best chance for heavier downpours will arrive Friday afternoon, especially across central Maryland and northern Virginia.

The dry stretch through Thursday should help ease morning commutes and outdoor plans, but Friday travel could slow on I-95, the Beltway, and other major routes as showers build during peak hours. Residents are advised to charge devices, secure outdoor items, and plan for possible brief power interruptions if stronger storms develop.

Conditions look to improve by the weekend, though forecasters caution another system could develop to the south next week, keeping rain chances close by.
