Baltimore, MD – A stretch of cool, dry weather across Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic will give way to late-week showers as a new cold front approaches, according to the U.S. National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington.

High pressure moving in from the Midwest will dominate much of Thursday and early Friday, bringing mostly dry skies and noticeably cooler air. Daytime highs today are expected to range from the upper 50s to near 60 degrees, with gusty northwest winds reaching over 20 mph, particularly along and north of I-66 and across the Alleghenies. Overnight lows will dip into the low to mid-30s under clear skies.

By Friday, conditions will warm slightly ahead of the next cold front. Temperatures are forecast to climb into the lower to middle 60s before rain showers develop late in the day and continue into Friday night. Overnight lows will hold in the 40s to mid-50s.

Saturday will bring a return to mild and partly sunny weather once the front moves through, with highs ranging from the upper 40s in the west to the low 70s toward the coastal plain.

Motorists and commuters are advised to plan for potentially slick conditions late Friday, especially during the evening commute.
