Baltimore, MD – Cooler air will settle across the region late Saturday, prompting a Frost Advisory for portions of north-central Maryland overnight.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, the advisory is in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM Sunday, mainly for areas north of Interstate 70, where the growing season is still active. Temperatures are expected to fall into the 32°F to 38°F range, with patchy frost possible by sunrise.
Forecasters noted that increased cloud cover will prevent widespread freezing, but thin clouds north and east of the metro area could still allow frost to develop—especially in northeast and central Maryland and in sheltered valleys of the Alleghenies.
The growing season has already ended across northern and central Virginia, eastern West Virginia, and western Maryland, but gardeners in central Maryland are advised to protect sensitive vegetation overnight.
Conditions are expected to warm gradually through Sunday afternoon with mostly sunny skies returning by early week.
