Baltimore, MD – The National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington says residents should brace for a chilly and frosty morning Friday as high pressure settles over the Mid-Atlantic region. Temperatures started the day in the 30s and 40s, with some areas seeing frost, especially in outlying and higher elevation spots.
By this afternoon, skies will remain mostly sunny with highs climbing into the 50s outside the mountains, while mountain areas stay cooler in the upper 30s to mid-40s. Winds from the northwest at 10–15 mph may gust up to 25 mph, bringing a brisk feel to the air.
Forecasters say passing clouds will develop north of I-66 and US-50, but overall conditions will stay dry. The cool pattern is expected to continue through the weekend with below-normal temperatures and clear nights that could bring additional frost in rural areas.
Residents are advised to protect sensitive plants and dress in layers for the chilly start to the day.
