Baltimore, Md. – Much of Maryland will see an early taste of fall this week, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s and 50s through at least Wednesday morning. A strong dome of high pressure parked north of the region is driving the cooler pattern, keeping skies mainly dry but temperatures well below seasonal averages.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, lows tonight will range from the lower 40s in Oakland and Cumberland to the upper 50s near Baltimore and Washington. Winchester, Leesburg, and Hagerstown are forecast to fall into the upper 40s, while Annapolis and southern Maryland will stay milder in the low 50s.

The agency notes that cloud cover and occasional moisture could spin in from an offshore coastal system, but any showers that develop will remain scattered and brief. No widespread rain is expected, and dry air will dominate much of the week.

Residents should prepare for crisp mornings, particularly in western Maryland and the Shenandoah Valley, where light jackets will be needed for the commute. Gardeners may want to monitor sensitive plants in higher elevations where temperatures approach the low 40s.

Cooler-than-normal conditions are expected to persist through midweek before gradual moderation later in the week. Additional advisories could be issued if showers become more organized.
