Baltimore, MD – Strong winds are sweeping across Maryland today as the US National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington issues a Wind Advisory for northern and mountainous areas.

Forecasters warn of gusts reaching 45 to 55 mph in higher elevations, including the western mountains and northern counties, with 35 to 45 mph gusts possible elsewhere. These strong winds could make travel difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, and may blow around unsecured outdoor items such as decorations, trash bins, and light structures.

The advisory remains in effect through Friday evening, October 31, 2025. The highest wind impacts are expected in areas such as Cumberland, Hagerstown, and Oakland, while Baltimore and Washington, D.C. will still experience blustery conditions through the day.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor decorations, use caution while driving, and prepare for sporadic power outages due to falling branches or debris.
