Washington, D.C. — Lingering showers are possible Sunday across parts of the Mid-Atlantic as a slow-moving frontal boundary remains near the region.

According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, conditions will gradually warm through the first half of the week as the system moves away and high pressure builds.

High temperatures Sunday are expected to reach 60 to 70 degrees across much of the region, while mountain communities could see highs in the 50s to near 60.

Sunny conditions are expected Monday and Tuesday, with highs climbing into the upper 60s to low 70s across much of Maryland, northern Virginia, and the Washington metro area.

Mountain areas are forecast to see highs in the 60s to around 70 degrees during the same period.

Rain chances return Wednesday as another system approaches, bringing showers across the region while temperatures remain warm with highs in the 70s in many lower-elevation locations.

Forecasters say a strong cold front will move through late Wednesday into Thursday, bringing cooler air and a shift in weather conditions.

Behind the front, temperatures are expected to fall back into the 60s for many areas, while mountain regions could see highs in the 40s to 60s and lows in the 20s.

Students, commuters, and travelers across the Washington–Baltimore corridor may want to monitor forecasts heading into Wednesday night as the cold front approaches.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to stay updated on forecast changes as the late-week system develops.
