Baltimore, Maryland – Steady light to moderate rain is expected across the Baltimore area through much of Saturday, with changing conditions late tonight as a cold front moves through, according to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office.

Forecasters say rain will persist for most of the day Saturday, leading to wet roadways and reduced visibility at times. Daytime temperatures are forecast to range between 45 and 56 degrees, keeping precipitation primarily in the form of rain for the Baltimore metro area.

Conditions will begin to change late tonight as a cold front pushes east through the region. As the front passes, temperatures are expected to drop quickly, and winds will shift to the west and northwest. Overnight low temperatures are forecast to fall into the mid-20s to lower 40s, depending on location.

By Sunday, much cooler air will be in place, with blustery winds making it feel colder throughout the day. High temperatures Sunday are expected to range from 28 to 48 degrees, with the strongest winds during the morning and midday hours. Gusty conditions may impact high-profile vehicles and create difficult travel conditions on exposed roadways.

While Baltimore and surrounding lower elevations are expected to remain dry on Sunday, the National Weather Service notes that snow showers are likely in the Allegheny Mountains, where colder temperatures and upslope flow will support wintry conditions.

Rain is expected to taper off overnight, and no flooding concerns have been highlighted for the Baltimore area at this time. However, drivers are urged to use caution on wet roads today and remain alert for rapidly changing conditions overnight as temperatures fall.

For commuters, students, and weekend travelers, the primary impacts will be rain and slick roads Saturday, followed by cold, windy conditions Sunday. Conditions are expected to improve Monday, with partly sunny skies and highs between 30 and 46 degrees.
