Washington, D.C. – Showers and thunderstorms could disrupt travel across the D.C. and Baltimore region by late Wednesday afternoon, with the greatest impact expected during the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, storm chances increase through the afternoon and early evening, with highs climbing into the upper 70s to upper 80s across the region. Conditions remain mild overnight, with lows in the 50s.

A stalled front will set up across the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday, creating sharp temperature differences across short distances. Areas northeast of the boundary may stay in the upper 50s to low 60s, while southwestern locations could climb into the mid-80s. Additional thunderstorms are expected Thursday, especially along the boundary.

Cities including Washington, Baltimore, and Annapolis could see periods of heavy rain, brief gusty winds, and reduced visibility during peak travel hours. Major routes such as I-95 and the Capital Beltway may become slick during downpours.

By Friday, the front lifts north, allowing warmer and drier conditions to return with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s and improving travel conditions.

Residents should stay weather-aware this afternoon and plan for possible delays during storms, with additional updates likely as the system evolves.
