Baker City, Ore. – A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect across portions of northeast and southeast Oregon through late tonight, with the heaviest concerns centered on Harney, Malheur, Baker, and Oregon’s Lower Treasure Valley.

According to the National Weather Service in Boise, excessive rainfall could lead to flash flooding, particularly in Cow Valley, Durkee, and The Falls. Officials warn that heavy downpours may trigger debris flows in areas scarred by recent wildfires, raising the risk of sudden road blockages and dangerous travel conditions.

Communities across Harney and Malheur counties are urged to monitor creeks, dry washes, and low-lying areas closely. In Baker County, rural highways and smaller farm roads could see rapid water accumulation, making nighttime driving especially hazardous. Emergency managers stress that flooding can occur quickly and without warning, even outside active rainfall.

Residents are advised to avoid crossing flooded roadways, keep emergency supplies accessible, and remain prepared for additional warnings overnight. The watch will remain in effect until 2 a.m. Thursday, and forecasters caution that conditions could worsen if storms persist.

Warnings may be upgraded if rainfall intensifies later tonight.
