Nassau, Bahamas – Hurricane conditions are expected to slam parts of the Bahamas beginning late Sunday, bringing life-threatening winds, storm surge, and massive seas to the region.

According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, hurricane-force winds of 105 to 125 mph are forecast to arrive across central and southeastern waters Sunday night into Monday. Seas could build to between 30 and 45 feet, with visibility dropping below one mile in driving rain and thunderstorms.

In Nassau and across New Providence, residents should prepare for possible extended power outages as winds intensify through Monday morning. The Exumas, Eleuthera, and Cat Island face some of the most dangerous swells, with storm surge capable of flooding low-lying communities and cutting off travel. Maritime operations across the Bahamas have already been suspended, and officials are urging all vessels to remain in port.

Emergency managers warn residents to secure property, avoid coastal areas, and have supplies ready for several days. With hurricane conditions lasting into Monday, dangerous travel is expected by land and sea until at least Tuesday. Additional advisories are likely as the storm strengthens.
