AUSTIN, Texas – Central and South Texas are locked in an unusually warm stretch for mid-October, with highs soaring into the upper 80s and lower 90s across much of the region through early next week. The unseasonable warmth will persist under mostly sunny skies and minimal rain chances, keeping the area dry and breezy.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin–San Antonio, early morning low clouds in the west will clear quickly each day, giving way to sunshine and temperatures running 10–15 degrees above normal for this time of year. Afternoon highs are expected to reach around 92°F in Austin, San Antonio, and New Braunfels, with readings up to 94°F near La Grange. Overnight lows will remain mild, generally in the upper 60s to low 70s.

The NWS reports only slim rain chances—between 5 and 15 percent—through the weekend and into midweek, with slightly better odds of isolated showers returning by Wednesday. Humidity levels will increase slightly early next week, but widespread rainfall remains unlikely.

Drivers are urged to stay hydrated and avoid leaving children or pets in parked vehicles, as vehicle interiors can exceed 120°F within minutes. Energy use will stay elevated during the afternoon hours, especially in urban centers.
