Austin, Texas – Central Texas will see another round of triple-digit heat Tuesday, with scattered thunderstorms adding to the weather risks. Afternoon highs will climb between 98 and 103 degrees, while heat index values could push up to 108, creating dangerous conditions for anyone spending time outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, the most widespread storm chances will be east of U.S. 281. Thunderstorms may develop late in the day, bringing locally heavy rain, gusty winds, and lightning to areas including Austin, Georgetown, La Grange, and Gonzales.

San Antonio and the Hill Country will remain drier but hotter, with temperatures from 101 to 103 degrees expected in Uvalde, Carrizo Springs, and Pleasanton. Rocksprings and Kerrville will see slightly cooler conditions in the upper 90s but still face high humidity levels.

Officials urge residents to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Drivers should also be alert for sudden downpours and ponding on roads in areas where storms develop.

The pattern of extreme heat paired with isolated storms is expected to hold through Thursday, with only gradual relief late in the week.
