Austin, Texas – Seasonably hot conditions will grip Central Texas through midweek, with afternoon highs climbing into the upper 90s and near 100 degrees for much of the region. A 20–30% chance of isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms will persist Tuesday and Wednesday, offering brief relief but also the potential for lightning and localized downpours.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, the highest rain chances will be along the Hill Country, I-35 corridor, and into the Coastal Plains, including Georgetown, Llano, Rocksprings, and Fredericksburg. Most storms are expected to develop during the afternoon and fade after sunset.
Heat remains a primary concern, especially in areas like Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Uvalde, where highs will push into the low 100s. Overnight lows will only dip into the mid to upper 70s, limiting recovery from the daytime heat. Residents are urged to limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heating, drink plenty of water, and monitor for rapidly changing weather.
While rain chances decrease late week, highs near or above seasonal averages are expected to continue into early next week.
