Austin, Texas – Clouds are expected to return across Central Texas tonight, helping keep overnight temperatures milder as the region heads into a stretch of relatively warm weather through the end of the workweek, according to the National Weather Service Austin–San Antonio.

Forecasters say increasing cloud cover overnight will prevent temperatures from dropping as low as recent nights, particularly across southern portions of the region where clouds arrive first. Morning lows are expected to remain milder than average, followed by generally mild daytime temperatures continuing into Friday.

While dry conditions will dominate much of Central Texas, the National Weather Service notes that rain chances increase mainly east of Interstate 35 late Tuesday into Wednesday. Any rainfall during this period is expected to be scattered, with most areas remaining dry.

Attention then turns to the upcoming weekend, as forecasters are monitoring an Arctic cold front that could arrive late Friday into Saturday. According to the National Weather Service, this front has the potential to bring much colder air to the region, along with possible wintry precipitation.

At this time, officials emphasize that there is uncertainty regarding the amount of moisture, timing of precipitation, and the exact placement of any wintry weather. A wide range of outcomes remains possible, and details are expected to become clearer later in the week as the system approaches.

The National Weather Service encourages residents to enjoy the milder conditions early in the week but remain aware that a significant pattern change could occur by the weekend. Those with travel plans or outdoor activities later this week may want to stay flexible.

Central Texans are advised to check back frequently for forecast updates, especially as confidence increases regarding the Arctic front and any associated cold or wintry impacts.
