Austin, TX – The National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio has issued a Freeze Warning in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday for much of south-central Texas, including Austin, San Antonio, and surrounding counties. Temperatures are dipping to as low as 30°F, marking the first widespread freeze of the season for many areas.
While locations in downtown Austin and San Antonio are expected to remain in the mid-30s, outlying and rural areas will experience subfreezing temperatures. The Hill Country has already seen its first freeze earlier this season.
Residents are reminded to protect the “4 Ps” — People, Pets, Plants, and Pipes — by covering exposed vegetation, insulating outdoor plumbing, and ensuring pets have warm shelter overnight.
Conditions will gradually warm after sunrise, with temperatures rebounding into the upper 50s by afternoon.
