Austin, Texas – Today is Sunday, and temperatures will remain well above average across South-Central Texas this week.
According to the US National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, afternoon highs will steadily climb into the 80s by Tuesday, with the warmest readings expected Wednesday and Thursday. Austin is forecast to reach 86 degrees Wednesday, while San Antonio could see highs near 87 degrees along the Interstate 10 corridor.
Farther southwest, Del Rio may approach 90 degrees, and Eagle Pass could reach 92 degrees, marking some of the warmest February readings in the region this season.
Overnight lows will also trend milder, generally ranging from the upper 40s to low 60s through midweek. Forecasters report there are currently no chances of rain in the extended outlook.
Communities along Interstate 35, including Austin, San Marcos and New Braunfels, will experience dry conditions paired with increasingly warm afternoons. While not extreme for summer, these temperatures are well above typical mid-February averages.
The dry stretch may increase outdoor activity and travel across major corridors including I-35 and I-10. However, residents are encouraged to remain mindful of hydration during extended time outdoors.
Students, construction crews and outdoor workers may notice the warmer afternoons most by midweek.
The National Weather Service continues to monitor conditions and will provide updates if forecast trends change.
