Austin, TX – A dry cold front will sweep through Central Texas this afternoon, bringing gusty north winds of 20 to 30 mph and cooler temperatures, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Austin-San Antonio.
The front will shift winds to the north by early afternoon, resulting in breezy conditions across the region. Forecasters expect high temperatures to range from the mid-60s in northern areas to the mid-70s farther south, including San Antonio.
Patchy fog was observed early this morning, mainly across the coastal plains, but skies will clear through the day, leading to mostly sunny conditions. Despite the cooler air, temperatures will remain seasonable for early December.
Motorists traveling along the I-35 corridor should use caution during the afternoon, especially in open areas where gusts may affect high-profile vehicles. Outdoor enthusiasts should also secure lightweight items such as decorations, umbrellas, or trash bins before winds increase.
Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to fluctuate through the weekend with highs in the 60s and 70s and lows dipping into the 40s and 50s. Low-end rain chances are expected to return by early next week, but dry and pleasant weather will dominate until then.
The NWS advises residents to enjoy the sunshine and cooler breeze while staying aware of changing wind conditions through the afternoon.
