Austin, Texas – Central Texas remains locked in a stretch of seasonably hot weather, with afternoon highs ranging from the mid-90s to just over 101°F for parts of the Hill Country and Rio Grande Plains. Isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are possible through at least early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, the greatest rain chances Wednesday will focus on the Hill Country, where Kerrville and La Grange could see a 40% chance of storms. Elsewhere, precipitation chances remain between 10% and 30%, with activity tapering off after sunset each evening.

San Antonio and Austin will both hover near 99°F to 100°F through Sunday, while Del Rio and Eagle Pass could reach 101°F. The combination of heat and humidity will keep heat indices in the triple digits for much of the region during peak afternoon hours.

Residents are urged to limit strenuous outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and be prepared for sudden lightning or brief heavy rain during pop-up storms.

More consistent rain chances could arrive early next week as a weak disturbance approaches from the Gulf.
