Austin, Texas – A Flood Watch is in place for most of South Central Texas from noon Sunday through noon Monday, bringing a heightened threat of flash flooding across the region. Storms are expected to dump widespread rainfall of 2 to 4 inches, with localized totals near 8 inches that could overwhelm creeks, rivers, and urban drainage systems.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, the watch includes San Antonio, Austin, New Braunfels, and the Hill Country, stretching southeast toward Gonzales and Victoria. Flooding may develop quickly along low-lying roads, especially in urban areas where drainage systems could back up under intense downpours.

Drivers along I-35 from San Antonio to Austin should prepare for reduced visibility and potential water-covered roadways. Secondary roads through the Hill Country, including areas near Kerrville and Fredericksburg, may also be at risk of flash flooding where heavy rain bands linger. Authorities are urging residents to avoid low-water crossings and to stay off the roads if possible during peak rainfall.

The flood threat will continue until noon Monday, with additional watches or warnings possible if rainfall exceeds early estimates.
