Austin, TX – Central Texas residents will see more summer-like heat this week as temperatures remain unseasonably warm and skies stay mostly sunny.
According to the National Weather Service Austin-San Antonio, highs Wednesday through Saturday will consistently reach the upper 80s to mid-90s, running 5 to 10 degrees above seasonal averages. The region is also expected to stay mostly rain-free through the weekend, with only slight chances of showers returning early next week.
Forecast data shows Austin reaching 95 degrees Wednesday, with San Antonio and surrounding cities like New Braunfels, Kerrville, and Fredericksburg also in the mid-90s. Even overnight lows will stay relatively mild, hovering in the upper 60s to low 70s across the Hill Country and I-35 corridor.
The outlook into the weekend calls for similar conditions: clear skies, hot afternoons, and minimal rain chances. The next potential shift comes Monday, Oct. 6, when isolated showers may return across portions of Central Texas.
Officials urge residents to continue heat safety precautions typically used during summer. Outdoor workers, athletes, and those without air conditioning are advised to stay hydrated and limit strenuous activity during peak afternoon hours.
This stretch of hot, dry weather is a reminder of Central Texas’ variable climate, where fall can still feel like summer well into October.
