Austin, TX – Unseasonably warm temperatures continue across central and south-central Texas today, but a major pattern shift begins tonight as two storm systems bring several rounds of rain and thunderstorms through early next week. Highs this afternoon will climb into the upper 70s and mid-80s from Austin to San Antonio, with patchy morning drizzle giving way to isolated thunderstorms later in the day.

According to the National Weather Service Austin–San Antonio, the first and more immediate system arrives Wednesday night through Friday morning, bringing widespread rain and embedded thunderstorms. Forecasters say rainfall could be locally heavy, with a risk for flash flooding in vulnerable areas, especially along the I-35 corridor and into the Hill Country.

The second wave arrives Sunday into Monday, with another round of thunderstorms and a renewed threat for heavy rainfall. Strong to severe storms will be possible with each system, and residents in Travis, Bexar, Williamson, Comal, Hays, Guadalupe and surrounding counties should stay weather-aware as the pattern evolves.

Thursday holds a 55–75% chance of rain across the region, rising to 65–90% Friday depending on location. San Antonio and Austin both see their best chances for widespread rainfall overnight, before drier conditions briefly return Saturday. Highs cool toward seasonal November levels by the weekend, dipping into the low to mid-70s. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 40s and low 50s by early next week.

Forecasters advise monitoring local alerts for possible flooding or severe storm warnings as the systems approach.
