Austin, Texas – A wave of intense heat is settling over Central Texas, bringing highs in the 90s and heat index values climbing into the low 100s through at least midweek, with little to no rain expected. Residents in Austin, San Antonio, and the surrounding Hill Country should brace for increasingly dry and hot conditions more typical of mid-July.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, a drier summer weather pattern is taking hold across the region. Skies will remain mostly sunny, and high temperatures will range from 93°F to 99°F through next Wednesday. Heat indices could top 100°F daily outside of the Hill Country. Rain chances are minimal, with only isolated showers possible Friday in the Coastal Plains.

Cities like New Braunfels, Cuero, and Del Rio will see some of the highest temperatures, with forecast highs reaching 98°F to 100°F by the weekend. The dry pattern reduces flooding concerns but raises the risk of heat-related illnesses and wildfire danger.

Texans are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Drivers should be cautious of overheated vehicles and hot pavement, especially for pets.

The dry pattern is expected to hold through July 23, with no significant rain forecast in the near term.
