Austin, TX – A cold front will move across Central and South Texas today, bringing scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms, and gusty winds, according to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio.
Forecasters say this front will be weaker than the last one, but still strong enough to produce breezy conditions and a few thunderstorms across the eastern half of the region, mainly along and east of the I-35 corridor.
Temperatures will vary widely behind the front—ranging from the upper 60s to mid-70s in the Hill Country and northern areas, to the upper 70s and low 80s farther south near San Antonio and the coastal plains.
Winds will shift northwest and increase behind the front, with gusts reaching 20–25 mph this afternoon before easing tonight. The front will move through quickly, setting up dry and cooler conditions by Sunday.
The Weather Service advises drivers to watch for brief heavy downpours and gusty crosswinds during the afternoon, especially east of Austin and San Marcos.
