San Antonio, Texas – Temperatures across Central and South-Central Texas are expected to soar into the upper 90s through Sunday, with isolated afternoon thunderstorms popping up primarily south of U.S. Highway 90.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, heat indices will remain elevated today and into early next week, with widespread highs from 94°F to 99°F. Only a slim 10–15% chance of showers exists through Sunday, mainly affecting areas near Eagle Pass, Uvalde, and Laredo during peak heating hours.

Cities including Austin, San Marcos, and New Braunfels will remain mostly dry but should prepare for oppressive humidity and heat index values creeping into the low 100s. San Antonio could see an isolated downpour this evening, though measurable rainfall remains unlikely. Roadways may become slick briefly during isolated storms in southern counties.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors or pets. Power grid strain may increase during afternoon highs, especially in urban areas like Round Rock and Georgetown.

Hot, humid conditions are expected to linger into midweek, but better rain chances arrive Monday, when precipitation probabilities rise to 30–35% in much of the region.
