Austin, TX – Central Texas residents can expect another hot day Monday, with highs climbing into the upper 80s to upper 90s across much of the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, conditions will stay mostly sunny and dry for most of the day. A few isolated showers or thunderstorms could develop this afternoon or early evening, mainly east of Interstate 35.

Forecasters say Tuesday may be even hotter, with many locations approaching or surpassing 98°F before a cold front moves in midweek. That front is expected to arrive Wednesday, bringing higher chances of rain and gradually returning temperatures to more seasonable levels.

For Austin, highs are forecast to reach 98°F on Monday and Tuesday, before dropping to the upper 80s by Thursday. San Antonio is expected to see similar heat, peaking at 99°F Monday before cooling into the low 90s later in the week. Overnight lows will remain muggy, staying mostly in the 70s until the front passes.

Rain chances are expected to increase significantly Wednesday, with the highest probabilities east of I-35. While severe weather is not currently anticipated, forecasters caution that thunderstorms could bring heavy downpours and brief gusty winds in some areas.

Travelers and commuters across the Austin-San Antonio corridor should prepare for hot conditions and stay hydrated early in the week. Those with outdoor plans Wednesday into Thursday may want to keep an eye on updated forecasts as rain chances develop.
