San Antonio, Texas – Blistering heat and the threat of severe storms will make for a dangerous Monday across Central Texas, with highs soaring past 105°F in places like Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Carrizo Springs.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, isolated severe storms are possible from mid-afternoon into the evening, especially over the Hill Country and along the I-35 corridor. Large hail, damaging winds, and locally heavy rainfall are the main threats, with a low chance of an isolated tornado.
Cities including Austin (97°F), San Antonio (99°F), and New Braunfels (94°F) are under a marginal to slight risk (levels 1–2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms. Power outages and dangerous lightning could impact the evening commute. Residents are urged to stay weather aware, limit outdoor activity, and have multiple ways to receive warnings.
Despite the storm potential, heat remains the larger concern. Daily records could be challenged across western counties, with Uvalde and Pearsall both expected to top 100°F. Cooling relief is limited, with only slight drops midweek before temperatures rebound by the weekend.
Storm chances continue into Thursday, primarily west of I-35. Heat advisories may return by Friday.
