Aurora, Ill. — The Aurora Police Department will offer a “You Are the Help” program on Tuesday, July 29. This education event is free for community members.
“You Are the Help Until Help Arrives” is a free community event meant to teach civilians what to do in an emergency while waiting for first responders at the scene. The program will teach basic skills that could help keep family members, friends, colleagues or strangers alive until help arrives.
Topics covered at the event include calling 9-1-1, providing help safely, stopping bleeding, positioning an injured person and giving comfort. Workshop scenarios will help participants practice these skills and build confidence.
Those interested can register for the event online. The free community training will take place at the Aurora Police Department Community Room on Tuesday, July 29 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
