Aurora, Ill. — The Aurora Police Department shared an update today on their June traffic statistics.

The department noted a high number of intersection crashes last month. These crashes were caused by three main reasons: a failure to reduce speed, improper lane usage or distraction outside the vehicle.

To combat this, the department shared that they conducted 21 targeted traffic details throughout the city in June. These targets included top-crash intersections, speeding and lane violations, and overweight trucks and permit checks.

The result led to the following traffic statistics for citations given in the month of June by the Aurora Police Department. Officers made 119 traffic stops, 114 citations, 17 warnings and over $14,000 in truck enforcement fines. The department also boasted of multiple arrests and unsafe drivers removed from the roads.

The department thanked Aurora residents for doing their part to ensure safe driving in the city. They emphasized their goal to keep the roads safe.
