Aurora, Illinois — The Aurora Police Department shared an update on citations made under the City’s new Vehicular Nuisance Ordinance.

The police department shared on July 11 that the new ordinance would be in place to target reckless driving. Under the Vehicular Nuisance Ordinance, the Aurora Police can cite activities such as street racing, stunt driving or sideshows, and unlawful vehicle caravans or rallies.

Since the ordinance was passed, the Aurora Police shared that they have made 33 citations with $1,000 fines. Eight of those drivers were from Aurora, and the other 25 came from other municipalities. The department shared that some were stopped at the moment and others came after the fact through a follow-up investigation.
