Aurora, IL – A community celebration of music, food, and youth empowerment is set to take center stage as 100 Girls Like Us, Inc. hosts its annual Summer Concert in the Park fundraiser on Saturday, July 19, at Greene Field Park in Aurora.
According to 100 Girls Like Us, Inc., the “Welcome to Our Rodeo” event will run from 2 to 6:30 p.m. at 774 W. Illinois Ave., offering a family-friendly afternoon filled with entertainment, food, and inspiration. Admission and parking are free, and community members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and make voluntary donations in support of local girls’ programming.
Attendees can look forward to line dancing lessons, bingo, raffles, face painting, and live performances in gospel, soul, and R&B. Food trucks will serve hot dogs, chicken wings, rib tips, and po’ boy polishes, while vendors such as Ms. B’s Iced Tea will also be on hand.
The highlight of the event will feature girls from the Aurora-based nonprofit taking the stage for a special, positive performance of music, song, and spoken word. Additional local youth artists are scheduled to share their creative talents.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will directly benefit the programs of 100 Girls Like Us, Inc., which has been providing weekly mentoring sessions and empowerment activities for girls ages 5 to 17 since 2020. The organization, headquartered at 1226 Grand Blvd., focuses on building self-esteem, confidence, and life skills for young girls throughout the community.
“Our goal is to inspire as many girls in the community as possible to believe in themselves, never give up on their dreams, and remain focused on their education regardless of the challenges they face,” said Linda Williams, founder and president of 100 Girls Like Us, Inc.
