Aurora, Illinois — The Aurora City Council announced this week that it had unanimously approved the appointment of a new Chief Financial Officer and Director of Public Works. Stacey Peterson will serve as the Chief Financial Officer and Jason Bauer will be the new Director of Public Works and City Engineer.
Peterson was appointed to fill the vacancy left by former CFO Chris Minick. Peterson has worked in City Hall for 26 years. She briefly served as Interim CFO and City Treasurer from 2017 through 2018. Previous to being appointed CFO, Peterson was the City’s Director of Financial Operations.
“I’m honored to be selected as the new CFO for the City of Aurora,” Peterson said in the press release. “I look forward to working with the City Council, Mayor John Laesch, and this administration to continue to secure fiscal responsibility and ethical governance.”
Bauer is taking the Director of Public Works and CIty Engineer roles after filling in as Interims for both since March. Bauer began working in City Hall in 2014 as a Professional Engineer. He was promoted within a year later to Engineering Coordinator and served from 2015 to 2018. Afterward, and until March of this year, Bauer has been the Assistant Director of Public Works and Assistant City Engineer.
“I am proud to be part of such a hardworking and committed team, and I look forward to doing everything I can to support their efforts as they continue delivering exceptional service to our residents and advancing the vision set forth by the Mayor and City Council,” Bauer said in the press release.
