Aurora, IL Shooting: Two Men Wounded, Police Seek Suspects

Aurora, IL – Two men were hospitalized after a shooting inside an east-side Aurora residence Thursday night, and police are asking for the public’s help as the investigation continues.

According to the Aurora Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:18 p.m. Thursday, July 16, to the 1900 block of Westridge Place following reports of a shooting involving two people inside a home.

Responding officers found two Aurora men, ages 53 and 19, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported by Aurora Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital. Police said the 19-year-old was later transferred to another hospital for additional treatment. Both men were last reported in serious but stable condition.

According to investigators, detectives with the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Bureau and evidence technicians responded to process the scene, where they recovered multiple shell casings and other evidence.

Preliminary information indicates multiple rounds were fired at the residence before those involved fled the area. Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from circumstances specific to those involved, and police said there is no indication of a continuing threat to the community.

No arrests have been announced, and detectives continue to review evidence and pursue investigative leads.
