Aurora, Illinois – A 23-year-old man was arrested after a narcotics investigation led to multiple felony drug charges.

According to a Friday news release from Illinois State Police, the Kendall County Police Assistance Team (KCPAT) arrested David Leal Jr., 23, of Aurora following what officials described as an extensive narcotics investigation in Kane County.

State police said officers, working with the Aurora Police Department, began investigating alleged illegal narcotics sales in January 2026. Investigators identified Leal as a suspect during the operation.

On February 12, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1600 block of West Galena Boulevard. Authorities reported recovering cocaine, THC wax and cartridges, cannabis flower, and packaging materials. Leal was taken into custody without incident, according to Illinois State Police.

KCPAT officers presented evidence to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors filed charges including Manufacture/Delivery of Cocaine 100–400 grams (Class X felony), Possession of Cocaine 100–400 grams (Class 1 felony), Manufacture/Delivery of Cannabis 2,000–5,000 grams (Class 1 felony), and Possession of Cannabis 2,000–5,000 grams (Class 2 felony.

Leal is being held at the Kane County Jail pending his first court appearance. Authorities said there is no additional information available at this time.

The charges are allegations, and Leal is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Large-scale drug investigations can impact neighborhoods, including students and young workers in surrounding communities.
