Aurora, IL – Aurora residents will have the chance to learn crucial life-saving skills next week through a free community event hosted by city emergency services. The “Until Help Arrives” training aims to prepare participants to assist others in critical moments before first responders arrive.

According to the City of Aurora Emergency Management, the workshop will be held Monday, November 10, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Aurora Police Department Community Room. The program is open to all residents and focuses on empowering everyday citizens to act confidently during emergencies.

Topics include calling 911 effectively, controlling bleeding, positioning and comforting the injured, and staying safe while helping others. Instructors will also guide attendees through hands-on scenarios to build confidence and practical response skills.

Officials say the goal is to ensure residents feel ready to assist family members, neighbors, or strangers in need while waiting for professional responders.

Registration for the event is free and available online through YouAreTheHelpAurora.eventbrite.com.
